THE ROLE OF ICT IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION ON ACADEMICS PERFORMANCE OF PUPILS IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS
This
research work is to examine the role of ICT in Early childhood Education on
academics performance of pupils in primary schools, in Osun State.A survey
research design was adopted in conducting this research. Questionnaire was the
instrument employed for data collection. Frequency count and simple percentage
was used to analysis the data. The study population comprises of hundred (30) teachers,
drawn from the five (5) schools in Ilesa
West Local Government area of Osun State, the role of ICT as a change
agent for role of ICT in Early childhood Education. ICTs have significantly
impacted on educational practice in Nigeria, and such impact would grow
considerably in years to come, if the various problems hindering effective
utilisation of ICT as a change agent for education are properly ameliorated. Necessary
recommendations were made;The use of ICT is met with positivity from teachers,
contradictory to its actual implementation and application.When ICT is used,
some teachers believe that it encourages more constructivist approaches in the
classrooms and increases the diversity of pedagogical approaches, Teachers are
more confident in their use of ICT, whilst science teachers are more likely to
employ ICT in the classroom.
