Buhari attended primary school in Daura and Mai'adua before proceeding to Katsina Model School in 1953. He then went to the Provincial Secondary School in Katsina, where he completed his secondary education in 1961.
In 1962, Buhari joined the Nigerian Army and received his military training at Mons Officer Cadet School in Aldershot, England. He rose through the ranks and became a Major in 1970 after participating in the Nigerian Civil War. Buhari served as the Federal Commissioner for Petroleum and Natural Resources from 1976 to 1978.
In 1983, Buhari became the military head of state after a coup ousted President Shehu Shagari's civilian government. During his tenure, Buhari implemented policies aimed at curbing corruption and improving the economy. However, his government was accused of human rights abuses and suppressing freedom of speech.
Buhari was overthrown in a coup in 1985 and was placed under house arrest for three years. He retired from the military in 1988 and ventured into politics. As of my knowledge cutoff date of September 2021, Muhammadu Buhari's health status was reported to be stable. However, he has had a history of health issues in the past. In 2017, he spent several months receiving medical treatment in London for an undisclosed illness. Since then, he has made several trips abroad for medical check-ups. However, I do not have any information about his current health status as of today.
